After purchasing my first 3d printer and then my second about a week and a half later, I decided during some downtime that I was going to start on an Iron Man costume. Having already explored thingiverse for various projects I already knew there were several designs available. So I started with the “Iron Man MK6 MK 6 Suit” by “DaDave” which lead me to the “Iron Man Mark III Life-size Helmet” by “MIPRESIDENTE”  And I Jumped right into printing.

Not sure why I assumed it would be a little large and it would just slide over my head, I’m not sure why since I do have a large head. So I glued everything up only to realize it wasn’t gonna fit. Since it wasn’t going t be use-able, I thought I’d go ahead and do a quick prime and paint. Not really focused on patching and heavy sanding since it wasn’t going to fit.

After painting I dove right back in to try and figure out how much I needed to scale it to make it fit when I stumbled upon a video from Osdoyi PhD on youtube where he used magnets to connect the jaw and face plate.    Curious I snapped the jaw off and it fit.

I started to play with sanding it down but having skipped so many steps in the process I thought I’d start over and that is where I’m at now. Reprinting for round 2! I’m running these prints of my 2 Ender 3 Pro printers with PLA filament. I’ll be back later with the prints for assembly, prep work, and painting.
